A western Iowa woman was killed Wednesday in an Audubon County crash involving a semi-truck loaded with hogs. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 65-year-old Judy Lynn Boersma, of Manning, died when the vehicle she was driving collided with the semi tractor after she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of two county roads.

The accident took place as Boersma was traveling south on M-66 in a 2005 Buick, and the driver of the semi, 29-year-old Tony Kalin, of Caleridge, Nebraska, was traveling east on F-24, enroute to deliver 400 feeder pigs in Audubon County.

Following the collision, both the car and the semi ended-up in the south ditch. Boersma was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Des Moines for autopsy. Authorities say Kalin was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
