The volunteer crime-fighting group Guardian Angels is holding an organizational meeting in one eastern Iowa’s largest cities this weekend. Davenport Alderman Bill Lynn says a few dozen people have indicated they’d like to join the group.

Davenport Mayor Ed Winborn says he attended a recent meeting with the Guardian Angels and he’s impressed so far. Winborn says: "Anytime citizens would like to improve their neighborhoods, we want to encourage that. I do have some concerns. The selection process for the individuals that are going to be Guardian Angels is very critical and I also think the training process is very critical."

Winborn says he’s contacting the mayors in several cities where the Angels are operating to find out how they feel about them.
