Keg registration bill passes Senate

March 27, 2007 By admin

Keg registration is a big step closer to becoming law. The Iowa Senate voted unanimously on Monday to approve the bill to label every beer keg with a unique ID of its own.

The measure also required retailers to register the purchase of every keg, matching its number with the buyer’s ID. Police say they often break up underage drinking parties but can’t link the liquor to a buyer who provided it for the minors, and this will be a big help. The measure next goes to the governor’s desk for his signature.
