Butler basketball coach to take Iowa job

April 3, 2007 By admin

A day after being named the national coach of the year Todd Lickliter accepted a new job. After leading Butler to the Sweet 16 Lickliter has accepted an offer to become the new coach at Iowa and will be introduced at a news conference late this afternoon (4:45).

Lickliter spent six seasons as the coach at Butler and led the Bulldogs to four 20 win seasons and two trips to the sweet 16. That included this season when the Bulldogs finished with 29 wins before falling to Florida in the NCCA tournament. He replaces Steve Alford, who resigned to become the new coach at New Mexico.
