ISU coach happy with progress

April 11, 2007 By admin

The Iowa State football team concludes spring drills on Saturday and coach Gene Chizik says while all positions were open at the start of spring the two-deep is beginning to take shape. Chizik says a number of veterans have stepped forward this spring and they have a lot better idea of where they are. Chizik says some players have separated themselves at positions where they’re making a mark.

Chizik says veterans like receiver Todd Blythe have had good springs, as have guys he says you would suspect would be having a good spring. Chizik says a goal for the new coaching staff has been to install a new system while tailoring it to the players they have.

Chizik says they put in the things they think they need to win games, but have had to tailor that to the personnel they have available.
