A southwest Iowa man was killed Thursday night when his pickup crashed west of Clarinda.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 45-year-old John Douglas Beach of Shenandoah was traveling west in Page County, when his 1999 Dodge pickup left the road, crossed a farm drive, entered a ditch and struck a tree before ending up in a ravine.

Authorities say Beach was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to the Page County Hospital and pronounced dead. The accident — which occured at around 8:10 p.m. Thursday — remains under investigation.
