Charles City man shot dead after confrontation with police

April 16, 2007 By admin

Authorities are investigating the weekend shooting death of a Charles City man. Charles City police say they responded to a 9-1-1 call of a suicidal person at about 8:30 Saturday night.

A confrontation between the officer and the person took place, with shots later being fired. Fifty-six-year-old David Jerome King was pronounced dead at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

An Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation news release doesn’t say whether the officer shot King, but the unidentified officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
