Western Iowa woman dies in crash

April 16, 2007 By admin

A western Iowa woman died in a weekend crash in Pottawattamie County that left two other members of her family hurt. Sheriff Jeff Danker says the call for help came in around 12:40 A.M. Saturday. Danker says the single-vehicle was traveling eastbound on Magnolia Road when the driver missed a corner and the vehicle struck a tree. The woman died at the scene. Her husband and the couples’ daughter went to a nearby house to get help.

Danker says the victim is identified as 43-year old Mary Beth Bennett of Underwood. The woman’s husband, 53-year old Earl Bennett, was driving. Bennett and the couples’ six-year-old daughter, Katie, suffered minor injuries during the crash. Danker says the father and daughter were taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where they were treated and released. Earl Bennett submitted to a blood test, and the sample was sent to the state crime lab for analysis. No charges have been filed.
