Iowa’s Jason White has been named the Big Ten Conference baseball player of the week. White hit better than six hundred, had four homers and drive in nine runs over the weekend as the Hawkeyes took three of four from Illinois.

Iowa Coach Jack Dahm says for someone to hit three homers and follow that up by hitting for the cycle is something that’s very hard to do. Dahm says White’s bat really gave them a lift in the series when they weren’t playing very well.

After losing the series opener last Friday White hit three homers, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh in the opening game on Saturday as the Hawkeyes swept the doubleheader. Dahm says many of the guys on the team said the home should be the turning point of the season and they hope to carry it on.

The Hawkeyes are scheduled to host Illinois State tonight and Cornell College on Wednesday before visiting Northwestern this weekend in Big Ten play.
