A combination of nice weather and a new track could mean fast times this weekend at the 98th Drake Relays. The multi-sport events got off to a cold and wet start earlier today but the forceast for this weekend is for sunny and warm conditions. That’s good news for Relays director Brian Brown who says marks were effected by last year’s steady rain.

Brown say the atmosphere was hurt as the wet, cold weather kept some fans away. Brown says good weather means a more enthusiastic and that leads to better performances. He says they hope for a jam-packed stadium to help the athletes get the adrenaline flowing. If that happens, he expects records to fall.

Both the heptathalon and decathalon conclude on Thursday afternoon.
