The Iowa baseball team is back in the post-season hunt as the Hawkeyes get set for a weekend series at Northwestern. Iowa is 7-8 in conference play and tied for sixth after winning three of four against Illinois last weekend. The top six teams qualify for the Big Ten postseason tournament.

Iowa coach Jack Dahm says the top two teams Michigan with one loss, and Minnesota with two losses, have really separated themselves from the others. Dahm says his team has some opportunities as they’re tied for sixth and face some teams that’re below them. He says making the tournament is a major goal.

He says the Hawks need to focus on their current series and not start thinking about how many wins they will need. Dahm says the biggest concern is looking too far ahead and counting wins before they get them.

Dahm says the Hawks need to start eliminating mistakes. He says they struggled defensively last week, making a lot of errors. Dahm says they haven’t put all three phases of the game together yet. Northwestern is 3-13 in the Big Ten.
