Danica Haight of Iowa City High won her third consecutive shot put title at the Drake Relays today with a throw of 46-feet-10 inches. Haight is the first to ever win three shot put titles at Drake. Haight says she was aware of the history going in. Haight says her coach told her that noone had ever won three in a row before and that scared her, so it felt good to win.
Tiffani Synicek of Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson won her third title in the high jump today. Synicek won the title on her third jump at 5-8. Synicek says she was really nervous and having to make it on her third attempt almost gave her a "nervous breakdown." Synicek says the sunny warm conditions helped. She says it was more than she expected as the last six track meets have been colder. Synicek missed three attempts at the Drake record of 5-10.
