Turbine company to build plant in West Branch

April 28, 2007 By admin

A Spanish company announced plans this week to build a plant in West Branch to manufacture wind turbines. West Branch city administrator Ty Doerman says they were able to close the deal with Acciona Windpower. Doerman says West Branch was one of two sites the company was looking at based on geography, and they had a building the company could retrofit.

Doerman says the company plans to move ahead quickly. He says the company will probably break ground next week and get things up and running by 2007. Doerman says the company will bring several benefits to the community. Doerman says the plant is a little over 100 jobs and will also bring in more taxes and hopefully help the housing market. The company says it will produce 250 wind turbines in 2008.
