Police in northwest Iowa say it’s still not clear what a man was trying to accomplish when he was killed early Sunday. A Nebraska man died after falling from a utility pole in downtown LeMars about four A.M. Sunday. Witness say the man climbed from a rooftop onto a utility pole with electrical transformers. They told police they heard a loud bang, followed by the man falling to the alley. Police say the injuries appeared to be burns and injuries due to the fall. The man’s identified as 19-year-old Kenneth Allen Staab of Hubbard, Nebraska. He was taken to Floyd Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A MidAmerican Energy crew was called to restore power to part of downtown.
