Another busy summer is underway for road construction crews in Iowa. Mark Bortle, with the Department of Transportation, says one of the biggest ongoing projects is reconstruction of I-235 through Des Moines.

Bortle says there are projects statewide, "In the Atlantic area, on Interstate 80, we’re adding new ramps and rebuilding the US-71 interchange – in the Iowa City area, we’re doing some median construction work on I-80 from the Iowa River east and that could affect traffic."

Bortle says crews are spread from western to eastern Iowa. "We’re continuing reconstructing US-275 in the Council Bluffs area, we’re finishing work on the Iowa 60 corridor north of LeMars to the Minnesota border, and we’re finishing the corridor from Des Moines to Ottumwa to Burlington." Bortle says you can get more information about Iowa road construction projects on-line at: www.511.IA.ORG or by calling 5-1-1.
