Five finalists selected for U-of-I President

June 2, 2007 By admin

Five finalists have been selected to become the new president at the University of Iowa. The candidates will be on campus for interviews the week of June 11th through the 15th. David Johnsen, chairman of the search committee, says their identities will be released just prior to their visit.

He says the name of each candidate will be released roughly a day in advance. Johnsen says they’re still on track to hire a new president by July 1st. Following the interviews, Johnsen says, "The committee will make a presentation to the Board of Regents and there is a good possibility that they could wrap this up in fairly short order."

The search for a new U-of-I president has been plagued with problems. An initial list of finalists for the job was scrapped, and faculty members have criticized Regents for failing to involve them in the search.
