Iowa soldier wins big lotter prize

June 2, 2007 By admin

An Iowa City man who recently returned from Iraq is the winner of a large lottery prize. Twenty-one-year old Andrew Duffy and his fiancé struck it big over the Memorial Day weekend playing an instant scratch game.

Duffy says they kept winning and winning and one $30,000 and three dollars. Duffy served for a year in Iraq as a medic with the Iowa Army National Guard. Since returning home he has enrolled in college, purchased a home and proposed to his fiancé.

Duffy says he got back in October and started school and the money is almost as much as he made in Iraq in one year. Duffy says he’ll use his lottery winnings to help pay the mortgage on his new house.
