June 6, 2007 By admin

A Readlyn boy is charged with making a bomb threat at Wapsie Valley School near Fairbank. Following an investigation in the May 22nd incident, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Department has charged 14-year-old Kolton Vannatta with making threats, which is a felony.

Vannatta was an 8th grade student at Wapsie Valley School at the time. The note indicating a bomb would be place somewhere in the school building at a later date, was found by a student and turned over to the school staff. According the sheriff’s department, no actual device was ever planned or built. Vannatta was arrested and taken to the Bremer County jail, then released to his parents.
