The Iowa Board of Regents met in closed session for three and a half hours on Sunday and emerged to say they are continuing to evaluate presidential candidates for the University of Iowa.
Regents president Michael Gartner says the board had "full, frank and candid discussions" on Sunday.
Four candidates appeared before the board last week in Iowa City. At least one regent had predicted a decision could come after the board’s closed session on Sunday.
Regent Bonnie Campbell says these things take time. "We want to have the opportunity to absorb all the information and pursue anything that needs to be pursued and make sure that when we do come back together we don’t have any unanswered questions or loose ends," she says.
Regents said how long a new president is likely to stay at the University of Iowa is not playing a big role in their choice.
