Reviews good for Iowa track after Indy race

June 25, 2007 By admin

The reviews have been good for the Iowa Speedway in the wake of Sunday’s first Iowa Corn Indy 250. Dario Franchitti came away with the victory and says despite being less than a mile around the track ran more like a super speedway and that made passing difficult as the bottom line proved to be the quickest.

"I think that the Iowa track is great," Franchitti says, but he does says the Indy League should look at the regulations and specifications for the cars that race on the track and maybe change them for next year.

It was by far the biggest event to date for the new track and more than 35-thousand fans were on hand. General Manager Craig Armstrong says he’s thrilled with the turnout. Armstrong says there were at least 10,000 more fans at this race than any other race, and he says most were coming for the first time.

Armstrong says it was a great way to showcase the Iowa Speedway to the entire nation. He says you could feel the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd. The next event at the track will include a road course in mid-July.
