Huckabee talks healthcare, campaign finances

July 2, 2007 By admin

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says overweight and out of shape Americans are threatening the economic security of the U.S. Huckabee was campaigning this morning at a Cedar Rapids hospital, and says the nation does’t have a healthcare crisis — but rather a health crisis.

Huckabee says if we don’t start changing the way we think about the healthcare situation, it will "literally bankrupt us." Huckabee says the government and private insurance companies must direct more money to wellness programs.

Huckabee is crediting his recent debate performances with helping the health of his fundraising campaign for the GOP’s August Straw Poll event in Ames. Huckabee is claiming his funding disclosures later this week will show improvement

Huckabee says his campaign is going to do much better than they did the first quarter and will have enough funds to get through the straw poll. Huckabee says his fundraising will be nowhere near Illinois Democrat Barrack O’Bama’s Huckabee is campaigning today  in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
