A late comeback at the final round of the John Deere Clasic near the Quad Cities. Jonathon Byrd rallied from four strokes down on the back nine to win the John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities. Byrd fired a final round of five under-par 66 to win to claim his third PGA victory. It also qualifies him to play in this week’s British Open and next year’s Masters.

Byrd says those are byproducts of winning the tournament that he hasn’t thought about yet. He says he hasn’t played in the British Open yet, and looks forward to it, and hasn’t played in the Masters since 2004.

Byrd feels having two previous PGA Tour wins helped him down the stretch. Byrd says there’s something about winning down the stretch and says he kept his confidence up and took advantage of opportities and it worked out. After a birdie on the 13th Tim Clark appeared headed for his first Tour victory but bogies on the 15th and 17th opened the door for Byrd and left Clark still winless.
