Gator loose in Webster City

July 19, 2007 By admin

Authorities in a north-central Iowa town got a call Wednesday afternoon that may’ve been better suited for the late "crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin.

Webster City Police and animal control officers were called to an apartment complex on Des Moines Street to track down an 18-inch alligator that was on the loose. The ‘gator was sitting in a patio of an apartment when it was then captured by authorities.

The creature was then taken to a local veterinarian. There’s no word on where the alligator came from.
