The fictional T.V. character Red Green might’ve chuckled, but police in Mason City weren’t laughing after a popular handy-man’s tool was used to barricade a road.
Police received a call at about 4:15 Thursday morning that duct tape had been stretched across an intersection in the southeastern part of Mason City.
On arrival, they found someone had stretched duct tape around the telephone poles and through the intersection, blocking off the road. Officers saw someone fleeing the scene on arrival and a check was made at a home a couple of blocks away from the intersection. An officer found two rolls of duct tape in the backyard of the home. The case remains under investigation.
