Davenport man’s question is part of Democrat debate

July 24, 2007 By admin

A Davenport man’s question was among those aired during last night’s "YouTube" debate featuring the Democratic presidential candidates. The video question featured 49-year-old Mark Strauss talking, while his brother fed their mother who has Alzheimer’s.

"Not every parent has the luxury of two loving sons to care for them during Alzheimer’s," Strauss said. "My question for the candidates is people like us, the Baby Boomers generation, is going to see a boom of Alzheimer’s over the upcoming decades. What are you prepared to do to fight this disease now?"

The creators of YouTube say last night’s debate proved people don’t need to be in Iowa or New Hampshire to quiz the presidential candidates since the three dozen video-taped questions came from all over the country.
