Des Moines man charged in fatal hit-and-run

July 27, 2007 By admin

A 19-year-old Des Moines man faces a variety of charges in a hit-and-run that killed a Des Moines teen last night. Cops found Michael Lynn Cosper, Junior, at about 4:30 this morning and arrested him in connection with the hit-and-run. A 15-year-old was struck by a green Jeep at about 9:15 last night on a Des Moines street. The boy later died at a hospital.

Cosper’s been charged with drug-related vehicular homicide and failure to render aid at the scene of an accident. Cosper had a suspended driver’s license, too — and no insurance. He’s also been charged with unsafe passing. Witnesses say Cosper’s Jeep was attempting to pass another vehicle when it struck the teenager.
