The company that owns the Hardee’s fast-food chain is making some moves in Iowa. C-K-E Restaurants, Incorporated — the owner of the Hardee’s chain, has sold 18 Hardee’s restaurants in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines to St. Louis-based Westar Foods. Westar, in turn, plans to open five new Hardee’s restaurants in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines within the next six years.
The corporate owner of the Hardee’s franchise is in the process of selling off about two-hundred company-owned stores and securing promises from the buyers that they’ll open new stores, too. There are almost two-thousand Hardee’s restaurants in the U.S., primarily in the Midwest and southeast. There are 62 Hardee’s in Iowa.
