Bicyclist killed in Boone County hit-and-run

Central Iowa authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicycle rider. A 53-year old Boone bicyclist died Wednesday night as the result of an accident on a Boone County road. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Mark Snopek.

Reportedly Snopek was riding his bicycle northbound on County Road R-18 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Snopek died of his injuries at the accident scene.
