Iowa 4-H Foundation holds on-line auction

August 18, 2007 By admin

The Iowa 4-H Foundation is holding its first-ever charity event on the Internet auction website e-Bay. Foundation trustee Mike Moffitt, of Creston, says the auction features a wide range of items, from family vacations to livestock fertility treatments, under the theme "Everything Iowa."

Moffitt says "It’s mostly from Iowa companies and a lot of the items are actually donated or put together using Iowa products as well." He says there is a long list of items on which anyone with a computer can bid — and many hundreds of people are doing just that.

There are vacation packages to various resorts from Colorado to Florida and a NASCAR race package for the Kansas Speedway that includes a visit with driver Jeff Gordon. Other items on the widely varied list include: a new riding lawn mower, bull and boar semen, a turkey hunting package and a V-W Beetle convertible. Moffitt says the money raised will fund all sorts of 4-H programming to benefit Iowa’s youth.

Moffitt says the auction will continue to be through September 16th, which coincides with the conclusion of the Clay County fair in Spencer. To bid on an item on e-Bay, it’s easiest to first go to the website "www.iowa4hfoundation.org" and follow the "Everything Iowa 4-H Auction" link.
