The 20th season as head football coach at Grinnell College will be th final one for Greg Wallace. The veteran coach was named the school’s director of athletics and recreation earlier this year and will give up his coaching duties to concentrate on his administrative duties.

Wallace says he’s excited about the opportunity and challenges of the new position. Wallace had served as an associate AD for several years under Dee Fairchild, who retired at the end of the past school year. He says Fairchild has been a great asset to the college and in preparing him for the position. Wallace says his work as a women’s athletic representative for the conference has also been vital in preparing for this job.

Wallace says this was always one of his goals once he got into administration. Wallace talks about getting ready for his final season as a head coach. He says that will be the hardest part, not coaching football any longer. But Wallace says now instead of having one team, the new team will include all the coaches and athletes. Wallace opens his final season September first when the Pioneers visit Kenyon College.
