Just twelve days before the season kicks off two wide receivers on the Iowa football team have been suspended indefinitely following their arrest over the weekend. Iowa athletic director Gary Barta says Dominique Douglas and Anthony Bowman were arrested and have been released. Barta says the two are accused of illegally using a credit card.

Both natives of Detroit and saw action in 2006 as true freshmen. Douglas led all freshman receivers in the country with 49 catches while Bowman saw action on special teams. Barta says,"Because of the seriousness of the allegations, coach Ferentz and I and the department have suspended them immediately and indefinitely until this gets worked out."

Barta says this "comes at a terrible time, anytime this happens it would be terrible, but we need to let the process play out." The Hawkeyes open the season September first in Chicago against Northern Illinois.
