Gasoline prices are -not- expected to rise significantly before the upcoming Labor Day holiday, according to a report from Triple-A. Rose White, spokeswoman for the motor club in Iowa, says gas supplies should be plentiful to meet the slightly escalating demand.

White says, "We are expecting to see just a slight increase in travel, very minimal, but since many children are back at school, the demand on fuel will be minimal compared to what we normally see over the Memorial Day holiday, which is one of the busier travel days of the year, so we don’t expect to see much of an increase due to the fact that we’re approaching the Labor Day holiday period."

Triple-A says the average price of self-serve unleaded gasoline in Iowa is $2.84 a gallon. That’s 7-cents a gallon higher than the national average, but is down from the statewide average of $3.10 a month ago.
