Fire destroys Crawford County bar

August 29, 2007 By admin

A popular night spot in western Iowa’s Crawford County was destroyed by fire early this morning. The blaze at Wulfy’s Bar and Grill in Deloit was reported about one A.M. Denison Fire Chief Mike McKinnon says his department was called to help Deloit’s firefighters on the scene.

Chief McKinnon says the fire was contained in the attic but had already spread to the roof. He says: "The fire had quite a big jump on us. Unfortunately, we were never able to get ahead of the fire. The roof did end up collapsing so very, very significant damage to the structure." McKinnon says there was one injury reported.

A firefighter from Kiron was injured while battling the fire. The extent of his injuries aren’t known and his name wasn’t released, though McKinnon says he doesn’t think the injuries were life-threatening. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
