Des Moines police sorting out fatal Labor Day crash

September 4, 2007 By admin

Des Moines police are investigating the cause of Monday’s crash that claimed three lives. Early on Labor Day morning, police say an S-U-V carrying seven people went out of control on a curve and hit a tree on the capitol city’s east side.

The 22-year-old driver was killed, though his name hasn’t been released. Also dead are two 17-year-olds from Des Moines — Stephanie Gray and Matthew Tesch. Four passengers survived with injuries, two of them are 14. At least one is in serious condition. Police say one of the survivors lost his brother in the crash.
