UNI excited about playing in-state rival ISU

September 6, 2007 By admin

It has been a spirited week of practice at UNI where the Panthers get set to visit Iowa State. The Panthers opened the season with a victory over Minnesota State-Mankato.

UNI coach Mark Farley says when you’re playing a good team and an in-state team, it is exciting. Plus they’ll be playing in a large stadium with more media attention than they normally have.

Playing a team from a major conference is always a great opportunity for the former 1-AA programs and Farley says it carries even more meaning when it is an in-state game. He says players on both sides have read about each other because they are in the same state.
