Iowa City police report another assault of a woman

September 7, 2007 By admin

Police in Iowa City are reporting another assault on a woman. Police say a woman was walking home at 10 o’clock Thursday night, just east of downtown Iowa City, when she was approached by a man. The woman told investigators the man threatened and then assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, about 6’2", with a thin build. It’s the 29th reported assault on a female in the downtown area or near the U-of-I campus this year. In about 20 of the cases, the suspect has been described as a white male in his 20s, 5’8", 160 pounds.

The last case involving that description occurred last Friday night. Anyone with information about the assaults is asked to call police at (319) 356-5451.
