Spokesman Scott Brunscheen says more than 80 rare vehicles will be on display spanning 80 years of luxury four-wheel transportation. Brunscheen says: "Our feature this year (is) cars that were influenced by the design of Harley Earl. He was a designer at G-M from 1927 through the ’50s, so he had a huge impact and really effected about 60-million vehicles."

Among the very rare vehicles on display is the "Futurliner," one of only twelve ever made. It traveled the country in the 1940s and ’50s displaying "technology from the future" from the 1939 World’s Fair. One of the Futurliners stopped in Des Moines 52 years ago. Brunscheen says a number of the other cars being featured are one-of-a-kind.

Brunscheen says several vehicles are coming from the Heritage Collection at General Motors — all Harley Earl cars — two of them were "concept" cars which he personally drove. The most famous of them was the Buick Y-Job. While the focus of the weekend show is on very rare, classic cars, he says there are a few vehicles that will be familiar.

Brunscheen says it’s a diverse collection of automobiles that will range from a 1948 Buick Special Custom to a 1966 Shelby G-T 350 Fastback, in addition to classics like the 1937 Packard Victoria V-12 and the ’47 Cadillac.
