Bettendorf and Assumption meet in MAC showdown

September 14, 2007 By admin

The top rivalry in the Quad Cities resumes tonight as class 4A top ranked Bettendorf hosts sixth rated Davenport Assumption in a key Mississippi Athletic Conference showdown. Assumption is 2-0 and Knights’ coach Wade King says his team still has a number of question marks. He will get some answers, tonight.

He says they’re going up against an awfully good team and will find out where they are at, and what they need to improve on. Willie Argo provides a spark for Assumption. He has scored a touchdown the first time he has touched the ball in both of their games. King says it’s nice as Argo is off to a good start. He says they’re still trying to figure out what to do with him in certain situations.

Bettendorf coach Randy Scott says the game will be decided up front. He says games are won on the line of scrimmage, and that’s something he always tells his players. Scott says the Bulldogs need to cut down Argo’s space to operate with the ball. He says you stop a great back by not letting him get started. Scott says once Argo gets started, they don’t have a whole lot of kids who can match up physically with him.
