An Amish woman was killed and the rest of her family is in the hospital after a pickup rear ended her family’s buggy just after six o’clock Wednesday night. The accident happened northwest of Bloomfield on a road near the town of Drakesville.
The pickup, driven by 60-year-old George Pierschbacher of Chariton, hit the horse-drawn buggy. All six members of the Schrock family from Bloomfield were thrown from the buggy.
Thirty-year-old Rachel Schrock died. Her husband, a seven-year-old daughter and three-year-old son were taken to the hospital in Bloomfield. Her six- and one-year-old daughters were taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City.
