Public meeting planned to discuss Iowa City assaults

September 24, 2007 By admin

A public meeting is planned this week to address the increase in assaults on women in the Iowa City area. Iowa City Police and University of Iowa Police have received 35 reports of assaults against women in the last year.

Around half of the attacks appear to involve the same suspect. The city, the University, and Johnson County Attorney’s Office have scheduled a public meeting for Wednesday night at 6 p.m. to discuss what police are doing to address the assaults. The meeting will take place at Englert Theatre, 221 East Washington Street.
