Sioux City school locked down over gun threat

October 8, 2007 By admin

A Sioux City high school was locked down this morning because of a gun scare. A phone call to the North High School attendance office around 7:45 brought immediate action from the school’s principal, Linda Smoley. She says a parent heard a rumor from her daughter that a student was bringing a gun to school.

Smoley says teachers were told over the intercom to lock all doors and to keep all students inside the classroom. A student was taken into custody a short time later at his home though it’s unclear if a firearm was found. The all-clear was sounded and school’s back in session.
