Iowan wanted for sexual abuse arrested in Utah

October 11, 2007 By admin

An Iowa man wanted for sexually abusing a minor was captured Wednesday in Utah. U.S. Marshals got a tip that 51-year-old Russell Eugene Blessman of Des Moines was in a motel in a town about 40 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

Authorities went to the hotel and arrested Blessman, who faces two counts of second degree sexual abuse in Polk County. That charge, along with one count of contempt of court for violating a no-contact order, were filed against Blessman in June.

In July, federal authorities charged Blessman with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. A nationwide alert to truckers described the six-four, 360-pound Blessman as "a threat to children."
