Officials in the northeast Iowa town of Jesup are vacating their century-old city hall. An architect recently ruled the 100-year-old building is structurally unsafe because of its age and prior renovation projects. City officials have decided to temporarily move government offices to another building, which is owned by the Jesup School District.

City offices, the police department, and other agencies plan to be out of the building by the end of the month. The structural problems at city hall are creating a dilemma for the city. According to the mayor, it could be two years before a new City Hall is built.
