Two die in crashes in Tama and Polk County

October 15, 2007 By admin

A multi-vehicle crash in Tama County has left one passenger dead and five people hurt. The three-car accident early Sunday morning on Iowa Highway 96 near Gladbrook claimed the life of 42-year-old Deanna Walker of Gladbrook, while five other people were sent to hospitals for treatment of injuries. Authorities say an eastbound car, driven by a Traer 16-year-old, tried to pass another car, colliding head-on with a westbound car and the car being passed. Charges are pending.

A Des Moines teenager died late Sunday after the car he was driving went off Insterstate 235 near West Des Moines, hitting a light pole and guard rail. West Des Moines police say 16-year-old Corey Newbold was alone in the car when the accident happened around 11:30. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
