Iowa and ISU both face Wildcats this weekend

The Iowa Hawkeye can give their bowl hopes a huge boost with a victory at Northwestern. The Hawks are 4-5 after a come from behind victory over Michigan State. Northwestern is 5-4 and with a win becomes bowl eligible.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says it’s a veteran team that has beaten them the last two times they’ve played. Northwestern quarterback C.J. Bacher leads the Big Ten in passing with just over 310 yards per game. Ferentz says his team is going to have to complete some passes to keep the running game going.

The Hawks have been playing better the last few weeks but so have the Wildcats. Northwestern has won three our of their last four games and Ferentz says they’re playing with confidence.

Iowa State is still searching for its first Big-12 victory and will be at home against Kansas State. The Cyclones are 1-8 overall. K-State is 5-3 and led by quarterback Josh Freeman, who is fourth in the Big-12 in passing.

ISU coach Gene Chizik who says Freeman is a big guy who is effective with his arm and his feet. Chizik says the Cyclones will need to excel in every area to get a win. Chizik says Freeman has a lot of weapons, but he makes the offense go.
