UNI focused on winning out, gaining #1 seed

November 7, 2007 By admin

If the UNI Panthers can keep winning they could play at home until the national championship game. The Panthers are 9-0 heading into this weekend’s matchup at home against Indiana State. Panther coach Mark Farley says they don’t mind playing on the road but would prefer to play as many games as possible at home.

Farley says back on media day they took the team photo in the white away jersey because of all the early road games, and the team embraced that. But he says they have a chance to stay at home by doing the right things in the next two games.

With victories in their final two games the Panthers could be the number-one overall seed in the FCS playoffs. Farley says they’d better be a number one seed, because that’s what they’ve worked for. He says UNI has never been a top seed, and if they line up and play the games, hopefully they will get the wins and the top seed.

Indiana State is 0-10 but Farley says the Panthers cannot afford a letdown. He says they have to make sure going in that they put great effort in like they have with other opponents, and not get caught up in the cycle of what’s being said about their record.
