Spencer police officer uses taser on attacking dog

November 8, 2007 By admin

Spencer police say an officer had to use his taser on a dog after it attacked him. An officer was investigating a complaint of a dog running loose when a dog ran around the corner and attacked him as he tried to get back to his car.

The dog was a pit-bull mix and bit through the officer’s coat, breaking the skin on his right arm, before the dog took off. A second officer helped find the animal and was attacked a short time later by the dog. The officer then used the taser on the dog, and it retreated.

The owner of the dog, 32-year-old Ronalee Morimore, was cited with allowing a dog to be at-large and has been charged with tow counts of allowing an animal nuisance. The officer that was bitten was treated and released. The dog is being held in quarantine.
