Waterloo man now charged with two counts of murder

November 8, 2007 By admin

Martaves Keys A man who Waterloo police arrested for a gun violation following the murder of two residents last week is now charged with killing them. Twenty-five-year-old Martaves Keys of Waterloo was arrested this morning on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Ronald Scullark Junior and Anissa Schroeder.

The two each died of a single gunshot wound to the head. They were found dead in a vehicle that struck a fence in front of a home last Friday morning. An investigation revealed that Keys was seen running from the area, and also had blood on his clothing.

Witnesses told police Keys was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun. Keys reportedly admitted to police that he shot the Scullark and Schroeder, then disposed of the clothing he was wearing and the gun used in the shooting.

Police have recovered a large caliber handgun that may have been used in the shooting. Keys has been in the Black Hawk County jail since Monday, when authorities arrested him on a charge of possession of firearms as a felon.
