Montgomery County Sheriff pleads not guilty to assault charge

November 10, 2007 By admin

The Sheriff in western Iowa’s Montgomery County has pleaded not guilty to a charge of simple assault. Sheriff Tony Updegrove  appeared before the magistrate Friday morning on a charge of simple misdemeanor domestic assault. The charge was filed by his wife Tina.

The judge released Updegrove on his own recognizance, and the Sheriff has placed himself on administrative duty until the matter is heard in court. The Attorney General’s Office in Des Moines is in charge of the investigation into the alleged incident.
