Carter Lake man injured trying to save pet from fire

November 13, 2007 By admin

A Carter Lake man was treated for smoke inhalation after an early-morning fire. The fire broke out this morning around 2 o’clock. Brian Smith did make it out safely but kept going back into the burning home to search for his dog.

A neighbor tried to restrain Smith from going back inside. He was pulled from the fire by rescue personnel. One dog died in the blaze but another was rescued. The Crescent Fire Department was called in for back up. Smith had lived in the home since he was a child. The cause is under investigation.
